Questions We Get Before the Truck Even Leaves
Where We Work
We're based at 958 S Lochsa St here in Post Falls, and most of our calls stay inside town. That said, we don't stop at the city line. Rathdrum is five miles up the road and we're there often. Hayden runs about seven miles, Dalton Gardens is close behind at eight, and all three see us on a regular week.
Spirit Lake, Athol, and Harrison sit farther out, each around 17 to 19 miles depending on the route, and we'll make the drive for those too - just know the schedule for a same-day slot gets tighter the farther the job sits from Post Falls.
We don't claim coverage past that ring. If you're well outside Harrison, Spirit Lake, or Athol, call and ask rather than assume - it's a quick way to find out if a visit fits our day without wasting your time or ours.
What Comes Next
You call the number, 1-208-295-8598, and tell us what the door is doing - or not doing. A door that won't budge, a spring that let go with a bang, an opener that runs but the door won't move: all of that matters for what we load on the truck before we leave the shop.
We give you a window, not a guess dressed up as a promise. When we get there, we look at the door before we touch anything - track alignment, cable condition, what the springs are doing, whether the opener is the actual problem or just the symptom. Then we tell you what it needs and what that runs, in plain terms, before any work starts.
Some jobs finish the same visit. A broken torsion spring, a bent track, a dead opener board - most of that's a same-day fix if the part's a common size. Other times, if a part has to be ordered for an older or less common door, we'll tell you that up front rather than let you assume we're still working when we're really waiting on a shipment.
What We Are Called Out For
A lot of what we see traces back to how old the housing stock is around here. Across our service area, homes mostly went up between 1950 and 2003, with the bulk of that from the 1980s and 90s spread across six named areas. That means a steady run of doors and openers that are simply reaching the end of their working life at the same time - springs that have cycled tens of thousands of times, rollers that have gone from nylon to brittle, openers with chain drives nobody services anymore.
The cold-severe winters here add their own wear. Metal contracts, lubricant thickens, and a spring or cable that was already marginal tends to go in January, not July. We get a lot of calls for doors that won't open on the coldest mornings of the year.
We work on broken springs, cables, rollers, bent or off-track doors, opener repair and replacement, and panel damage. What we don't do is cosmetic refinishing or custom architectural doors - if that's what you need, we'll say so instead of taking the job anyway.
Frequently asked questions
Do you come out to Rathdrum or Hayden, or just Post Falls?
Both, regularly. Rathdrum is about five miles from our shop and Hayden about seven, so they're part of our normal route, not a special trip. Dalton Gardens at eight miles is the same. Farther out - Spirit Lake, Athol, Harrison - we still come, just with a bit less flexibility on same-day timing.
Why did my spring break in the middle of winter with no warning?
Cold makes it worse, but the spring was already near the end of its cycle count before the temperature drop. Metal contracts and lubricant stiffens in a cold-severe winter, and a spring that was marginal in October often finally lets go on one of the coldest mornings.
My house is from the 1980s or 90s - is that why parts are hard to find?
Sometimes. A lot of the homes in our service area date to that stretch, and some older opener models and hardware sizes from that era aren't stocked the way current parts are. We'll tell you up front if something needs to be ordered instead of guessing.
Is it worth fixing an old door or should I just replace it?
Depends on what's failing. A spring, cable, or roller on an otherwise sound door is usually a straightforward repair. If the opener, track, and panels are all failing around the same time, replacement often costs less over the next few years than repeated repair calls.
Do you do same-day repairs?
For common parts - torsion springs, cables, rollers, standard opener boards - yes, most of the time. If your door needs a less common part, we'll tell you during the visit instead of leaving you guessing about when it'll be done.
